Sponsor Spotlight: C8 Eco and the Sustainable Design & Energy Innovation Award
As part of the 2026 Guernsey Design Awards, C8 Eco is sponsoring the new Sustainable Design & Energy Innovation Award, a category that reflects the growing importance of environmental performance in the built environment.
C8 Eco works across energy and building performance, with a focus on helping projects operate more efficiently and sustainably over the long term. Their involvement in the Awards aligns with a shared ambition to support more responsible, forward-thinking approaches to design and construction.
The introduction of this category recognises a clear shift in priorities. While design quality remains essential, there is an increasing expectation that buildings should also perform well; reducing energy use, lowering carbon emissions and responding intelligently to their environment.
The Sustainable Design & Energy Innovation Award celebrates projects that take a considered and practical approach to these challenges. This may include the integration of renewable technologies such as solar PV or heat pumps, as well as more innovative solutions like smart controls, monitoring systems and load management strategies.
However, the focus is not simply on the inclusion of technology. Projects will be recognised for how effectively these elements are integrated and whether they deliver meaningful, measurable outcomes. There is a growing emphasis across the industry on real-world performance, rather than design intent alone.
For C8 Eco, the category represents an opportunity to highlight projects that are not only well designed, but also efficient, responsible and built with long-term impact in mind. It reflects a broader shift towards buildings that work harder, consume less and contribute positively to the future of the island.
All entries submitted to the Guernsey Design Awards will automatically be considered for this category, ensuring that projects of all types have the opportunity to be recognised for their environmental performance and innovation.
