Sponsor Spotlight: Mumford & Wood and the Natural Light & Glazing Design Award

For the 2026 Guernsey Design Awards, Mumford & Wood is sponsoring the new Natural Light & Glazing Design Award, celebrating the role that light plays in shaping how spaces are experienced.

Mumford & Wood design, manufacture and install bespoke, high-quality timber windows and doors, focused on craftsmanship and performance. Window design plays a crucial role in shaping how light defines a space and connects it to its surroundings. This focus is reflected in Mumford & Wood’s work, making them a natural partner for a category centred on glazing and the relationship between inside and out. This award recognises projects that demonstrate a thoughtful approach to natural light, where glazing is not simply an aesthetic feature, but a key part of the architectural concept. From framing views to improving comfort and wellbeing, the way daylight is introduced into a space has a significant impact on how it is used and enjoyed.

The Natural Light & Glazing Design Award highlights projects that balance light, privacy and comfort, while responding to orientation, aspect and setting. Judges will be looking for well-considered design that enhances the quality of internal spaces, alongside careful detailing and integration of windows, doors and glazed elements.

Importantly, the award is not about scale or the amount of glass used. Instead, it recognises projects where light is used intelligently and sensitively to improve the lived experience, creating spaces that feel comfortable, connected and appropriate to their surroundings.

For Mumford & Wood, the category reflects a belief that good design is often defined by the details and that the considered use of light can transform a space in subtle but meaningful ways.

All entries submitted to the Guernsey Design Awards will automatically be considered for this category, ensuring that projects of all types have the opportunity to be recognised for their use of light and glazing design.
